Chapter 11 Getting along With Chu Bai
Chapter 11 Getting along With Chu Bai
That man picked up the paper man, put it into his pocket and then he looked back at me, who was still shocked by the fight.
“As I said, it’s very dangerous late at night, not only for humans but for the ghosts as well.” He gave me a smile.
Then, he picked up the broken umbrella, turned around and walked away.
It was not until that moment I realized that what I smelled on him wasn’t the smell of blood.
It was… the smell of a creature that was not human.
The dream stopped here, as I woke up. It took me a few seconds to remember where I was currently.
Oh, right… I slept in a motel near the school yesterday, but why did I sleep here…
“Ah!” I suddenly sat up and was fully awake.
The female ghost, Chu Bai, she gratuitously possessed me when I was in the alley, and she almost strangled me to death on the street. And last night she——
Is she still here?
I cautiously cleared my throat and asked, “Chu Bai, are you there?”
No one answered me, the room was silent.
I touched my neck, the residual pain from strangulation was still there. I was sure that what happened last night was not a dream.
So, I guessed that I woke up while Chu Bai was still sleeping. That was so unfair.
Damn her, after everything that happened, how come she could still sleep like a baby while I couldn’t sleep and woke up at 6 AM.
Besides, even if I wanted to sleep a little longer, my bladder wouldn’t allow me to. I had no choice but to slowly get off the bed, put on my clothes and ran into the bathroom.
When I stood in front of the toilet, pondering how to solve the problem of Chu Bai, all of a sudden, a female voice interrupted my thoughts,
“Em, just like you, this thing is also pretty.”
I instantly screamed out like a girl.
“So annoying! What’s the matter with you?!”
“What’s the matter with me —— What’s the matter with you?!” I hurriedly lifted my pants with a flushed face.
“Hahaha, you’re so cute, a cute little virgin.”
“Shut up! Who allowed you to come out without permission?” I said furiously, “Didn’t I tell you last night, without my permission, you can’t ——”
“I had no choice. When I woke up this morning, you were peeing. It’s not like I wanted to see it, we just share the same pair of eyes.”
“Well, if you can’t help it, don’t say anything then!” I was angry.
“Okay, okay, I won’t peek at you next time.”
“You just admitted you were peeking at me!”
“Er… this…” Chu Bai let out a dry laugh and changed the topic, “Alright! Shouldn’t you go to this place called school? Hurry up!”
“Before I go, don’t forget the rules I told you yesterday…”
Chu Bai interrupted me before I could finish,
“I know, I know! I’m not that stupid!”
“Stop whining! Why is a big man whining like a little girl, so annoying.”
I was tongue-tied because of her words, this woman…no, this ghost was ridiculous!
However, to my surprise, Chu Bai seemed to keep her promise for the rest of the day, she kept quiet and left me alone.
“Gu Yu! Are you alright?” As soon as the class was over, Shi Yitong came to me with a worried face.
“You were acting so weirdly yesterday, did you go to Mr. Wen? Were you possessed by something?”
“Er…” I stammered, wondering how I should answer this question. “Actually, I’m fine now.”
“You’re fine? How could it be?” Shi Yitong looked at me in surprise. “Didn’t you agree with me yesterday? Did you go to see Mr. Wen or not??”
“No, I didn’t,” I began to lie. “Because…En, I felt alright when I woke up this morning. I behaved strangely yesterday because I had a cold.”
“A cold?” Shi Yitong nodded, he clearly bought my lie. “I see, no wonder you looked sick, it was because you had a cold. Get some rest today then!”
I forced out a smile and nodded, wondering if Shi Yitong was the only person in this world who could believe such a lame lie.
“Gu Yu! Watch out!”
While I was talking with Shi Yitong, I heard a voice shouting at me.
My body reacted before I could even notice what was happening. I quickly moved to the side to dodge the ball and then grabbed it.
The male student who accidentally threw the ball at me was stunned, while Shi Yitong applauded and cheered for me.
So close… I threw the basketball back, shouting, “Be careful!”
“You’re so cool.” Shi Yitong looked at me with respect. “You’re different from yesterday, you remember how you cried because you were hit by a ball yesterday?.”
Wh..What? I cried?
Why didn’t I know about this?! Chu Bai, you scoundrel!
I declined Shi Yitong and Su Xiaoyun’s invitation during the lunch break and wandered on a quiet street lined with paulownia trees.
“You’re actually a nice person, aren’t you?”
I lowered my head, kicking a pebble on the street while whispering.
I waited for a few seconds but she didn’t answer me.
“However, you’re not a human anymore, so I should say… you’re a nice ghost.” I smiled.
A couple of seconds later, Chu Bai hesitantly replied, “What’re you talking about, human kid? You should know the difference between good and bad. I almost killed you.”
“You just wanted to scare me.”
“Did you actually believe everything I told you?”
I smiled and shook my head. “No, I wasn’t talking about this. I heard you accidentally bumped into Liang Kaifeng yesterday.”
“Who is that? I don’t know him.”
“…and you apologized to him.”
“Did… did I?”
“I heard that he now has a crush on you because of your beautiful posture and soft tone. You even asked him if he got hurt.” I couldn’t help but smile. “Of course, because of you, that guy suddenly treats me like a goddess now.”
“No, it’s impossible!” Chu Bai refused to admit. “It’s my first time here, I just wanted to leave a good impression on the first person I met. What’s wrong with that?”
“Of course, you are.” I was trying very hard to not burst into laughter.
Though I didn’t know why Chu Bai came to me, and why she insisted on staying in the world of the living for a week, I found out after spending two days with her that I was right. This girl, Chu Bai, though she was a little rude and irrational, she wasn’t hostile to me or the people around me.
